Safety Town Programs

Safety Town has several different types of programming that we offer the community. Each programming package varies on topic, cost, time, and age group. These packages are outlined below to show the basic information and details per programming package.

Packages are not offered every single day or time of year. Those details are also outlined below. School District Program

Designed for districts in West Virginia, Kentucky, or Ohio

Grade Level: 2nd grade ( ~ Ages 7 to 9)

Time Frame: 9 am to 1 pm

Topics Taught: Bicycle Safety, Pedestrian Safety, Fire & Home Safety, Vehicle Safety, Booster Seat Safety, Public Safety, and Drug/Alcohol Prevention.

Cost: Due to the wide variety of school districts, each school district will need to contact the Safety Town Program to find out cost details. Cost is based on the number of students.

More Details: This is designed as a field trip experience to and from the Safety Town location. School districts will need to follow their own guidelines for field trips and provide transportation to and from the location.

Registration: Due to the number of participants and information required, school districts will need to register by contacting our office at 304-696-5540 ext. 2065 or by emailing HankinsV@HuntingtonWV.gov

Home-School/Individual Participant Program

Same set up as the School District Programming Package; Participants may be from West Virginia, Kentucky, or Ohio attending on the same day.

Grade Level: 2nd Grade ( ~ Ages 7 to 9)

Time Frame: 9am to 1pm

Topics Taught: Bicycle Safety, Pedestrian Safety, Fire & Home Safety, Vehicle Safety, Booster Seat Safety, Public Safety, and Drug/Alcohol Prevention.

Cost: $10.00 per child participant

More Details: The program is designed as a school classroom type setting. All participants must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian, or chaperone authorized by a parent/legal guardian.

Transportation: Transportation to and from Safety Town is the responsibility of the parent/legal guardian and any chaperone.

Special Groups / Small Group Program

(Minimum of 12 participants to qualify)

Same set up as the School District Programming Package;  Group members are the only participants at Safety Town for the time and date selected.

Grade Level: 2nd Grade ( ~ Ages 7 to 9)

Time Frame: 9am to 1pm

Topics Taught: Bicycle Safety, Pedestrian Safety, Fire & Home Safety, Vehicle Safety, Booster Seat Safety, Public Safety, and Drug/Alcohol Prevention.

Cost: $10.00 per child participant

Safety Town “On the Go” Program

Available to School Districts or Youth Groups

Grade Level: 5th or 6th Grade ( ~ Ages 10 to 13)

Time Frame: 2 Hour Period

Topics Taught:  Review of Bicycle Safety, Pedestrian Safety, Fire & Home Safety, Vehicle Safety, Public Safety. More in-depth programming for Cyber Safety and Drug/Alcohol Prevention are added to this program.

Cost: Due to the wide variety of school districts and youth organizations, each school district, or organization will need to contact the Safety Town Program to find out cost details. Cost is based on the number of students/participants.

More Details: The program is designed to be set up at the school/organization location. The minimum requirement needed is a chair, table, wide area/space, and electric outlet.

Transportation: We come to your location.

Registration: Due to the number of participants and information required, school districts and organizations will need to register by contacting our office at 304-696-5540 ext. 2065 or by emailing HankinsV@HuntingtonWV.gov
